How does the school measure the progress of my child?
Your child’s progress is continually monitored by the class teacher and is discussed formally at Pupil Progress Meetings with the Headteacher and SENCo.
Each child from Year 1 to Year 6 will be discussed and assessed whether they’re working towards the expected standard for their age, working at the expected standard, working at greater depth or working below the expected standard - for Reading, Writing and Maths (see the Assessment Policy).
At the end of each Key Stage (Year 2 and Year 6) all children are formally assessed using Standard Assessment Tests (SAT’s) and Teacher Assessments in reading, maths, writing, spelling and grammar. This is a statutory requirement set out by the Government and the results are published nationally. When a Year 6 child is working below the expected standard, the school may decide not to enter the child into the SAT. However, they will be assessed from the ‘Pre-KS2 Standards https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/pre-key-stage-2-standards
The progress of children with a statement of SEND / EHC Plan is formally reviewed at an Annual Review Meeting and may involve the other professionals that are part of your child’s care.
Book looks, planning scrutiny and lesson observations will be carried out by the SENCo and members of the SLT to ensure that the needs of all children are met and that the quality of teaching and learning is high.
We as a staff give reassurance to our children that we are there for them as Jesus was for his flock. We will care and look after them, we will teach them and do not leave anyone behind.
