Welcome to Robin Class
Children: Reception and Year One
Welcome to Robins Class!
Hi Robins! Welcome to the Summer Term! We hope you all had a fabulous time with your families and managed to eat lots of yummy Easter treats! We can't wait to see you and hear all about it. This term in Science we will be learning all about plants and how they grow (as well as growing some plants of our own!) We will also be learning all about magnets through some exciting experiments. In Geography we are going to be building on our previous learning about the United Kingdom by branching further out and learning about the 7 continents of the world! We will also be designing some yummy (but healthy!) smoothies to enjoy in our DT lessons! Loads to get excited about! See you soon and bring your enthusiasm for learning 🙂

Robin Long Term Plan 2024-25 - with EYFS progression
P.E:
P.E will be on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. Children in year 1 should come to school already dressed in their PE kits on these days. Children in Year Reception should have their PE kits in at school at all times so that they can practise the skills of getting themselves changed and dressed.
Spare clothes:
We ask that all children have a spare full set of clothes in school so that if they are poorly, have an accident or just enjoy themselves too much at school, they have a spare change of clothing available.
Welly Wednesday:
Every other Wednesday afternoon, whatever the weather, we put on our rain suits and wellies and head to our forest to explore the great outdoors in enhanced, fun and messy and muddy activities.
This is undoubtedly our favourite afternoon of the week and a fantastic opportunity for children to become more connected with the outdoors.
Please make sure children have a named pair of wellies in school.
Homework:
Reading:
The children are expected to read with an adult for 10 minutes each day. Please support your child by listening to them read, asking questions about the text and helping children use their phonic skills to decode any unfamiliar words. Each child has the opportunity to take part in their very own reading race – after they have read 10 times at home, they can choose a small prize!
Phonics / Spelling:
Year 1 spellings are set on a Friday and children have a spelling quiz the following Friday.
Mathletics:
Year 1 children will be set Mathletics homework on a Friday and it is due back the following Friday.
Reception children have the option to complete Mathletics tasks set but do not have to complete these in time for a due date.
