Admissions Policy

Admissions for Reception Year 2027

• If your child was born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023, and you live in Cambridgeshire you need to apply for Reception for September 2027.

Before you apply for a school place

1. Check you are applying to the correct council. If you are a Cambridgeshire resident you will make your application through the Cambridgeshire Admissions Team, even if you want to apply for a school outside of Cambridgeshire.
2. Research your options, understand what a catchment school is and how it affects your application and school transport. Look at admissions data, school's inspection results and performance data. 
3. Make sure you read the First Steps booklet, available below. This will explain the application process from start to finish. The booklet also contains a list of all the Infant, Junior and Primary schools in the Cambridgeshire area, along with their allocation criteria.
4. If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan, you should not make your application using the process on this page. Your child's SEN Casework Officer will explain the application process to you. Further information can be found at SEND Information Hub (Local Offer).

5. We may ask for additional information or evidence to verify application details.

6. Requests will be sent to the email address provided on your application. Please keep your contact details up to date and check your inbox, including junk or spam folders, regularly.

7. We may use information held by your child's nursery, pre-school or early years setting as part of our address verification checks please check they are holding the correct address.

Making your application

We are introducing a new online application system for school admissions. If you have used our previous system, you will need to create a new account before making an application.

The closing date for applications is Friday 15 January, 2027.

In-year application

You should always apply for an In Year school place through the Local Authority's School Admissions Team where the school is located.

Admissions for Secondary School

If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016 and you live in Cambridgeshire, you must apply for a secondary school place for admission in September 2027.

If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan, you should not make your application using the process on this page. Your child's SEN Casework Officer will explain the application process to you. Further information can be found at SEND Information Hub (Local Offer).
