Welcome to Peacock Class – Year 6

Our class timings:

Start: 8.45am

Finish: 3.15pm

Break: 10.30am - 10.45am

Lunch: 12pm - 1pm 

Happy New Year 😊 I hope that you enjoyed spending time with those you love the most and feel rested.

 

I’m really looking forward to seeing you all and starting the spring term together. Our history topic this half term is going to be, “Baghdad in D 900” and after half term we will changing our focus to Geography and looking at our local area. In science, we will be focusing on “The Human Body” and then “Classification”. For more information on what will be covered and when, please see the “Peacock Class Overview” below:

PE

Monday- Indoor PE. This term it will be Gymnastics. please ensure that your child comes into school in an indoor PE kit on a Monday

Tuesday - Football, please ensure that your child comes into school in an outdoor PE kit on a Tuesday.

 

Homework

Homework will continue to be set on a Friday and will be due in on Wednesday (except for spellings which are set every other Tuesday) however the children will start getting additional homework this term to try and help with the transition to secondary school. Their homework will consist of spelling practise and mathletics (which they are used to) and they will receive an additional piece every Friday.

In addition to this weekly homework that is being set, we expect your child to be reading independently or with an adult for 15 minutes each day. Please support your child by listening to them read, asking questions about the text and helping with any unfamiliar words.
